AUDITION & INTERVIEW GUIDELINES

 

Thank you for your interest in participating in the award-winning  NSU Theatre Company at Norfolk State University during our 10th Anniversary Celebration Season!  Please know that we DO NOT require or expect people to arrive with exceptional skill set -- only exceptional passion and drive -- because anything can be accomplished with that!

Auditions & Interviews will be held on the campus of Norfolk State University at Brown Hall Mainstage Theater on Saturday, August 12, and Sunday August 13, from 1pm to 5pm on both days.  These auditions are open to the public and are for ages 18 & over only.  Brown Hall Mainstage Theater is closest to Gate 3 by the intersection of Corprew and Park Avenues (on Corprew Avenue) in Norfolk, Virginia.  Directions can be found here.

All auditions and interviews are by appointment only through our self-scheduling Calendly link below.  Come prepared to show us your skills in whichever area(s) you choose.  You can audition and interview for as many areas as you like.

​

ACTORS:
Present a 60-second monologue from any source that shows strong dramatic or comedic performance. This is REQUIRED to be considered for an acting role. We will have monologues you can read from or you can present one that you have prepared and/or memorized. You may also offer a song selection if you can sing or "hold a note."

​

SINGERS:
Present a 60-second song from any genre that shows your range. This is REQUIRED to be considered for a singing role. You may also offer a 2nd song selection if you have another style/genre you are strong in.  This 2nd song is optional.

​

DANCERS:
Please come prepared to discuss your interest and if applicable,  your background & experience in dance.  A dance call will be held at a later date.

​

MODELS:
Please come prepared to discuss your interest and if applicable, your background & experience in modeling.


DESIGNERS AND TECHNICIANS:
Please come prepared to discuss your interests and goals in technical theatre.  If you have any materials to share, such as designs or projects, please have them ready to view.

​

MUSICIANS:
Please come prepared to discuss instrument(s) played, training and length of experience on your instrument(s).
